Longtime Ago People

Longtime Ago People Trailer: Talking Memories

M I L E S

“Longtime Ago People” is a podcast I’ve been thinking about for a while now. My family memories inspire it, and I wanted to share those cherished, funny, and inspirational stories we all have, especially those involving our grandparents, parents, friends, and other exceptional individuals.

Launching this podcast has been fascinating, and I’m learning a lot along the way. Preparing for the first episode, which features my Aunt Chrissie, has been an exciting part of this journey into podcasting. It’s a world I’m just beginning to explore, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me and what stories can be told. Thank you

"In a world where you can be anything, be kind."

Miles:

you're listening to miles and this is going to be a long time ago people. What I want to do is just get some. I want to share some heartwarming stories about our loved ones. I want to get the people that I talk to to talk about the funny and inspirational moments that people special people, special individuals have had on their lives. I think it's a fantastic way to remember people past and present. That's what I'm looking to do. Hopefully I can do that.

Miles:

I've never done a podcast before, so this is all new ground to me and I think I sort of came up with the idea when I was talking to my dad before he passed. We just started talking about things that had happened to him throughout his life and I'm sure it's a story that's very common with, obviously, most people when they are about to lose a parent. But I wanted just to focus on it was really funny because when my kids were little, we used to call the grandparents the long time ago people. So that's where the, that's where the name comes from. But I wanted just to focus on just talking about times, people, places from a long time ago, bygone days, olden days, back in the day, that sort of thing really Especially focusing on. You know, maybe grandparents, but not necessarily. I wondered one day if my children actually even knew my grandparents' names. So this is where this has all sort of like come from. So, anyway, I explain it better when I'm talking to my aunt, and so my aunt, auntie Chrissie, is my very first episode. So what I'll do now is I'll just cut away and this is me explaining it to her, and then obviously you can then listen to the first episode. This is all new to me. I've got a lot to learn about podcasting, microphones, editing. I didn't think I would have to edit, but I do because I say, um, a lot apparently. But anyway, thank you very much for your time and I hope you come on this journey with me. I hope to go on a journey with you as well. All right, take care Again.

Miles:

The whole idea of this really was that it dawned on me that my children don't actually know anything about your parents. I do, I remember them, but they obviously clearly never met them, and then I even got to the point of wondering if they even know their names, sort of things, and so what I wanted to do was capture any stories, any memories that you know that they could listen to at some stage if they ever felt the need to, uh, to find out some more about them. So that that's really what I wanted to, um, do. So I wanted to sort. I had this old idea of long time ago people, because they were a long time ago people, people from a long time ago, and, um, and it just seemed funny, sitting in this house, which they obviously lived in. So I want to know things about when they moved here, yeah, you know, when they left the isle of wight.

Miles:

Okay, so I'm so I'm going to just start with a little bit of, I'm just going to set the scene, so to speak. Okay, so you're listening to Miles, and this is a long time ago people. And today I'm with my aunt, chrissie in the lovely village of Stenning in West Sussex. Oh, I nearly forgot my artwork. That's actually me in the summer of 1969, walking in Sandown Bay on the Isle of Wight, and that's the lake beach path, underneath lake cliffs, on the way towards Shanken, and behind me is my mother and my brother, adam.
